Message from Agency: This family is open to offering relocation assistance if the candidate has experience as a nurse, physical therapist, teacher, or experience with Spina Bifida or similar special needs care.

Message from Family: Our family includes a father, grandparents, our toddler, and two sweet kitties. We live in a quiet country neighborhood within easy driving distance of Dallas. We enjoy taking care of our property, gardening, and spending time in nature.

We have had our own business for many years, which enables us to be spontaneous. We may decide to pop on a trip or work from home. We enjoy good adventures, hiking, and historical anthropology. We have housekeepers who come a few times a week.

Grandmother will be at home most days for part of the day, but would love the freedom to travel a little more, knowing our toddler is well taken care of. We value quiet time in the mornings and evenings for about an hour or so.We are looking for someone who can integrate into our family long-term!

About the Child:  A very happy and funny 22-month-old with Spina Bifida. He loves going outside, going to the park, reading, playing games, engaging in pretend play, listening to music, singing, and chasing our cats. He wants to learn everything he possibly can and will have you in stitches.

He is intellectually inquisitive and loves to read, go outside, listen to music, sing, and dance. He would require help with medical procedures (daily enema) and physical therapy, which we can teach if we find the right fit.

He is currently learning to walk and is doing really well. He is a joy!

Ideal Nanny: An active, positive nanny who will support our toddler's growth both physically and intellectually, while helping make home life more predictable and reducing stress for our family.

Our ideal nanny will:

  • Be comfortable with stairs
  • Communicate effectively with us regarding his day
  • A strong preference for someone who has medical and/or educational experience (Nursing, Special Needs care, Physical therapy, Teaching).
  • A second language would be a plus (especially Spanish), but not required
  • Be willing to perform enemas or other treatments (training will be provided). Urinary catheterization may be required at some point in the future, so the nanny needs to be comfortable and willing to help daily
  • Assist with daily physical therapy, often incorporated into play (for example, “up down” games)
  • Be proactive with ideas to support growth and development
  • Provide normal daily care, including bathing, preparing meals for him, and offering enrichment activities
  • Be a great fit with our family and respect our need for quiet time when appropriate
  • If the Nanny is open to travel, that would be a bonus
  • Be flexible and able to work with a changing schedule
  • Driving is a must. We need someone who is comfortable taking him to special fun classes or the park, to museums, to doctor appointments, and to meet up with Dada (not attend), if and when necessary
  • Be morally strong and trustworthy
  • Keep family areas organized and the child's areas clean (including changing linens and maintaining cleanliness in those spaces)
  • Support the development of a strong, healthy routine

Additional Job Details: The nanny will be required to sign an NDA. Family will give a reference if required.

Training with a qualified provider will be required for performing enemas, urinary catheterization, and any other necessary treatments. All training costs will be covered by the family.

The nanny will be responsible for transporting the child to physical therapy appointments and supporting his progress throughout the day by incorporating therapy exercises into play and daily routines. The nanny should feel comfortable supporting age-appropriate learning and development each day. The nanny should be enthusiastic about participating in physical therapy,  and actively supporting the child's therapeutic goals.
