Message from Mom: We are a family of four who understands the value of good childcare, and how important it is to find the right fit on both sides. We love Colorado's natural beauty and year-round activities. We like to be active: ski, hike, walk, run, etc. We take health seriously, including vaccinations and Covid precautions for everyone in our family and in our household. We have two terrific kids, no pets, and live in a great neighborhood with nearby parks and playgrounds. Our toddler is in preschool and the baby is just on the verge of being mobile. Both parents work and travel for work. There may be times when the whole family goes on a trip, and we would like for our nanny to be able to join us while traveling. We keep a tidy and organized house (and also work with terrific housekeepers). We value kindness, professionalism, and honesty.
About the Child:
Eldest is a 3-year-old who attends preschool 5 days a week. Toddler is social, good-natured, and kind. Loves playing with toys, going outside, reading, and doing projects.
Second child, 9 months old baby, spends most days doing typical baby things—going on walks in the stroller, trying new foods, exploring age-appropriate toys. Happy and curious.
Neither child has special needs.
Their Ideal Nanny: We are looking for someone who is kind, creative, reliable, and proactive (very important!). You must be a self-starter, otherwise, it’s not going to work out. This role is for someone who enjoys working with toddlers and babies. The ideal candidate thinks about how to be supportive of the family, asks questions, and is motivated to do good work.
Our ideal candidate is thoughtful and imaginative. There's no need for plopping the kids in front of the tv—go outside, read books, play with Play-Doh, color, listen to music, build a fort, put on a puppet show, go on a scavenger hunt, make something with your hands! At this stage, our kids are easily entertained and just need someone to engage with them and have a good attitude.
We want someone who can keep our kids happy and safe. Education is important to us but we do not need someone with an advanced degree in childcare. We are always receptive to ideas, but find unsolicited parenting advice to be off-putting.
Additional Job Details: This position includes childcare (priority #1) and daily light household management duties. Toddler will be in camp and summer programs for the coming months before school resumes in the fall. On days when the toddler and baby are both at home, you will manage both of their schedules, activities, and meals throughout the day. On days when the toddler is at school, you will mostly care for the baby and take care of light household tasks. Household tasks outside of the children’s areas could include things like helping with recycling, pulling in the trash cans, watering plants, putting groceries away, loading and unloading the dishwasher, etc. Also, at times when the family is away but you're still being paid for your time, you will be expected to help with errands and other tasks around the house.
You must have your own reliable car, car insurance coverage and a clean driving record. Driving requirements are limited and may include nearby trips like going to the library, playground, park, etc. We may also ask you to run errands, for example, go to the grocery store, post office, or dry cleaner.
We do not have a special diet in our home. Part of your role is to prepare and serve the children's meals, but you are not expected to do any cooking for the parents.
You do not need to do any heavy housekeeping, but you are expected to clean up after the children. This means wiping down surfaces after meals and food prep, doing their dishes, sweeping up crumbs below their chairs, putting toys away after playtime, making their beds each day, emptying trash bins/diaper pails, folding and putting clean laundry away, keeping the diaper bag stocked, stroller clean, etc.
