Job #15250: Nanny Needed in Phoenix: (32nd Street and Mountain View Rd.)

Message from Mom: We are a busy two-parent household dedicated to parenting, and very intentional in all aspects of child-rearing. Dad works many long hours each week in healthcare. His schedule is known months in advance but his day to day start and end times vary and may be a bit unpredictable more than a few days in advance. He is super involved in all aspects of parenting and has a very close relationship with the kids. I am primarily a stay at home mom who works per diem (24hr shifts) when it fits the family's schedule. When I do work it is only 8 hrs during the morning at the office and the remaining 16 hours are finished at home. We do not have family in the area and have raised our two girls by ourselves. With the addition of a 3rd child, we realize we could use some extra help and would like to explore nanny options.

We are a non-smoking, no pet home and would prefer that any nanny we hire is the same. Our days typically start around 5:30-6am, with dinner around 5-6pm and bedtime by 6:30p. We are very loving with our family but also definitely strict. We are not religious but not opposed to our children being exposed to all religions, cultures, etc. We highly value family, education, hard-work followed by playtime, respect, and emphasize the Golden Rule. We don't wear shoes in the house and we are pretty strict with screen time (none on weekdays, and very limited use for the older child on the weekends, ideally none for the baby until after age 2). We definitely would view this relationship as a partnership and need a nanny to be on board with our household rules to maintain consistency for the kids.

About the Children: Female, very bright and energetic 6 years old. Sweet, respectful, loving, is sensitive to routine and schedules. Needs consistency and someone who will be loving but firm as she likes to push her independence and test boundaries as is typical of this age.

Female, very sweet and gentle 2 years old who loves working on her independence these days. Enjoys gymnastics, swimming, playing in the park, music class, puzzles, building things, and pretend play. Has a mellow disposition, good sleeper/napper. Has had some appetite/feeding issues (with no identified underlying medical issues) so we have had to pay extra attention to her eating/feeding patterns and rough caloric intake.

Our newest family member is a sweet (and mellow by most people's observation) little boy. Thankfully a healthy little one who enjoys being around his sisters. Has thus far been a pretty good sleeper. Breastfed but is able to take a bottle so mom can have a little freedom at times. Can be a little fussy in the evening at times before bed if it has been a busy day. Meeting all developmental milestones at this point.

Their Ideal Nanny: We want a nanny to be fully fluent in either Farsi or Spanish. We will expect that this is the primary language the nanny will speak with the children. The degree of English speaking abilities does not matter as I am conversational in Spanish and understand basic Farsi and my husband is fluent in both. We travel several times a year and would love to have a nanny that would be willing to travel with us as well (both domestic and international). We also need someone who has the experience and confidence to take a loving but firm approach with our oldest when needed and someone who has the patience and skill set to work with bright and articulate children who intellectually/cognitively seems pretty mature but socially/emotional are still young.

In my dream world I envision someone to partner with me in all aspects of daily life whether it is meal prep/light cooking, running errands, transporting kids to school/activities, attending & participating in activities/classes/story time, etc. with the littles, helping with homework, helping to keep house tidy (not deep cleaning), watching kids, so I can work//have personal time//have one on one time with each child, be available some nights and weekends for date nights, helping with kids laundry and keeping their rooms tidy (with the age-appropriate assistance from the littles). I don't expect all of these things on a daily basis but again want someone who would be willing to partner with me in all aspects of managing a household/raising kids.

Additional Job Details: We do currently have a housecleaning 2x/month and no other household employees. We also have a car that can be used.

Our oldest is 6 and will be entering 1st grade at a nearby school (a very short drive < 2 miles from our home). She participates in 2 activities after school that needs driving to. Our 2-year-old will be starting "preschool" at a Spanish immersion school this August. She will attend M-W-F from 9 (can possibly do drop off as early as 8) - 1 pm. The school is about a 10-15 minute drive from the home depending on traffic. She is currently home with me full time and will continue to be so until the start of school in August. She currently has one activity she participates in on Tuesdays during the day and one-weekend activity. Our son joined our family in April. The girls have adjusted very well to this addition. He currently sleeps in our room and will do so until about 6 months old. We like to engage him in activities like library story time, swim lesson, etc as age appropriate. We don't foresee sending him to "preschool" until he is at least 2 years old.

Start Date: ASAP

Duties: Light housekeeping, laundry, grocery shopping, misc errands, and cooking

Schedule: 40 hrs/week guaranteed with varying hours and possibly days (want someone who is okay with working five 8 hr days some weeks and possibly four 10 hr days others, etc.). Given the variability in our schedules, I just want to cover all our bases and be clear about all possibilities. Typically hours should be in the range of 6am- 6pm M-F but unless we have made arrangements ahead of time for a later night to accommodate a date night. We would also love to have someone who would be willing to do weekend hours on occasion for date night coverage (this may be 1x/month).

Compensation: $17-22 per hour
