Message from Family: We are a family of four + 1 (my elderly mother-in-law, who has her own suite within the house) + 1 golden retriever puppy. Dad often works from home but also has to travel regularly for work. Mom does not work but was a pediatric nurse practitioner.
We have a serious medical situation in our home that has led us to needing a skilled and compassionate nanny to support us. Mom was diagnosed in October of 2024 with metastatic breast cancer, a terminal illness.
About the Children: Our oldest is a wonderful 5-year-old girl who just started kindergarten. She loves to play, talk, girl stuff, and spend time with her puppy.
Our youngest is a 3-year-old boy who loves to play with his sister (including her Barbies). He is very, very smart, but he has a temper and needs boundaries and a long dialogue to understand how to behave right.
Their Ideal Nanny: Compassionate with children, especially given what they are about to go through, but able to provide firm boundaries and assist them with overcoming their tantrums and outbursts with positive guidance. Someone who wants to establish a long-term relationship with the family to help during this time and beyond.
Additional Job Details:
The family vehicle will be made available for use. There will be a need for school pickup and drop-off. Most days, both kids will be in school.
The home has one dog, a golden retriever puppy, that will require care at times (especially when dad is out of the house on work travel).
Mornings will start with breakfast for the kids and prep to leave to school.
During the day, duties include walking the dog, managing laundry and daily pickup/light housekeeping (heavy housekeeping is scheduled for every Friday), and household planning duties such as groceries and meal preparation. There will be some duties to assist Mom in areas such as lunch and taking her medications, but not home health care duties (bathing, etc.). There may be medical appointments where Mom will need help getting to and from doctors and hospitals.
In the evening, dinner will be prepared for the family, and the kids will need help bathing and preparing their clothes and backpacks for the next day of school.
Live-In Accommodations: Private bedroom/bathroom. The bath is not en suite but could be converted to one by closing off the hallway opening. The bathroom would be dedicated to the nanny.
There is a TV in the bedroom and it is fully furnished. Standard WiFi/streaming services/etc would be included for entertainment.
