Message from Family: We are a family of 3 living in Victory Park. Mom is a doctor, and Dad is a consultant who frequently travels for work. Both parents work long hours, and we just welcomed our first child at the beginning of October. Over the past three months, we’ve faced a challenging journey as our son has been in the ICU since birth and continues to have significant medical needs. As both parents will be returning to work, we need individuals who can provide vital support to our entire family during this transition.
We are hopeful to be discharged at the end of January and are looking forward to finding two individuals who will view this as a unique and meaningful opportunity to be part of our family’s journey during this crucial time.
About the Child: Our sweet son was born in early October and is now 3 months old. Due to a complication during delivery, he sustained a brain injury and now has kidney disease. We have been at Children's Hospital in Dallas since his birth. While he is progressing well in terms of his brain injury and is meeting most developmental milestones, he still has residual kidney failure and requires dialysis. He also has a feeding tube.
Their Ideal Nanny: We are looking for two compassionate and detail-oriented nannies who are dedicated to supporting our son’s growth and development. This role involves working closely with us and other healthcare providers, such as physical and speech therapists, to help him thrive. Over time, we hope to train the nannies on his feeding tube and dialysis machine. The ideal candidate will be willing to learn and become comfortable with administering G-tube feeds and medications, working with home physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapists (who will be visiting daily), and eventually getting trained on peritoneal dialysis to assist with his dialysis when one of us is out of town (as it requires two people).
We are seeking individuals who are:
Coachable
Detail-oriented
Highly attentive to cleanliness
Physically capable and active
Compassionate
Willing to learn
Invested in our son's development and well-being
Dedicated
A collaborative and effective team player
Possessing a deep sense of empathy
Understanding and supportive
Professional
*Experienced with a medical background (not required)
Additional Job Details: We hope to build a positive, long-term relationship with our nannies. If our son continues to need dialysis (though there is a chance his kidneys will recover and he may not need it long-term), we would like to train our nannies on the dialysis machine. This would ensure that, in the event that mom or dad are unavailable, the nannies will be able to assist one of us.
