Message from Family: We are a couple in our mid-30s who have been fully devoted to our professional careers and we recently welcomed a beautiful little girl into the world. Dad works for a local TV network. He is always one phone call away from having to hop on a plane to go cover breaking news which is usually domestic, but at times can require leaving the country.
Mom founded a company in Dallas several years ago and is currently very active in its expansion, but wants to make sure she is an equally present mother for anything our daughter needs. Her plan is to occasionally work from home, where she can be available for our daughter if needed, but to have a nanny she can feel comfortable leaving her daughter with all day until she returns from the office. Because we both often work from home often, we looking for the right person to be there for our daughter since our schedules are often unpredictable.
We are equal parts nervous and excited about hiring the first nanny we will entrust with our only child's well-being and safety with. We're hoping to provide a comfortable environment not just for our daughter, but for whoever would join us in helping take care of our precious little girl.
About the Child: Our first child just celebrated her one-month birthday and is already growing so fast. From the second she was born, she's been active and curious about the world around her and loves looking at pictures or paintings when she's not enjoying a nice semi-long nap.
Since we've brought her home her feeding patterns have remained mostly consistent with her bottle or breast-feeding every 2.5 to 4 hours depending upon her appetite which she isn't shy about alerting us towards. Right now she is breast/bottle fed at about a 60/40% split. She loves to be held and spoken/read to which is why we prefer not to put her in front of a screen. As of right now, there are no special needs to be aware of.
Their Ideal Nanny: Experience is very important to us as first-time parents, but kindness and the desire to engage with our daughter reign supreme. Due to both our jobs, no two days are alike so working alongside someone who is flexible for occasional errands and taking our daughter on walks and park adventures when she's old enough would be amazing.
We are passionate about not only making sure our daughter gets all the milk and naps she needs but mental development as well. A nanny comfortable in assisting infant development through reading and engaging experiences is crucial. Should the nanny be bilingual, we'd encourage her to speak to our daughter in multiple languages.
Additional Job Details: Since this is our first step into the nanny world, we are learning as much as we can and are open to suggestions on creating a positive, sustainable environment for both our daughter and nanny. We often have one car available at home should the nanny need to use it, but likely can't guarantee there will always be a car there. We are also open to contributing towards a cell phone bill. Our neighborhood is very safe and has a gated entry alongside great neighbors and easy parking.
** Ideally we would love for our Nanny to travel with us, but it is not a requirement. A valid passport would be appreciated as we usually take one or two international trips a year.
