Job # 83694: Experienced Family Assistant needed for Busy Family of 8 in Denver, CO (E Orchard Rd & S University Blvd)

Agency Point of Contact for Job # 83694: Kate (480) 586-3012

Message from Family: We are a family of 8 living our best lives in Greenwood Village. My husband runs a successful plumbing company and I stay home to manage the household and mostly drive children around. Our 6 kids go to 4 different schools and all have different activities going on at any given point in time. We have 2 french bulldogs, that are friendly and low maintenance. We also have a tarantula that stays in their cage in a child's bedroom. My husband has an office, but does work from home occasionally, no other employees at this time. We are busy and rarely live the same day twice.

About the Children:

Our oldest is a 16 year old boy currently a Junior in high school. He is on an IEP for severe dyslexia and has ADHD inattentive type. He has a lovely girlfriend, who he spends most of his free time with. He enjoys fishing, wrestling, driving, video games and being with friends. He is a fantastic young man who is delightful to be around. The main interaction I am looking for with him is support with executive functioning skills. His grades were not great this semester and that is the result of poor time management, organization, initiative and no self-advocacy.

Our next son is 15 year old boy. He attends a brand new and relatively small school that teaches in classical Catholic education. He enjoys working out. He came to our family 8 years ago after his mother (my sister in law) passed away and has both PTSD and ADHD. My main goal is someone to help  him work on executive function skills and also keep track of his tutoring sessions in math and chemistry.

Our next son is 15-year-old sophomore in high school. He enjoys fishing, wrestling, mountain biking, being outdoors, F1, snowboarding and movies. He gets fairly good grades. He is goofy and a typical middle child... occasionally walking the line between funny and disrespectful or hurtful, but he is learning. He has potential to be the most challenging child, but equal potential to be the most wonderful.

Next in line is our Science loving 7th grader. He is very bright, very stubborn, always experimenting and learning. He is a most delightful child 95% of the time and my most challenging the other 5%! Those challenges can mostly be solved with food! He loves the ocean and all marine life, and is very empathetic. He takes daily medication for ADHD combination type.

Our only girl came with a boy! She and our final boy are twins.  They are both 10 years old and in 4th grade. She is an artistic free spirit who is a little challenging to get focused, but has an incredible disposition. She is a wonderful friend, a natural leader and is always up for an art project. She loves to play volleyball and basketball, make bracelets, draw and travel. She has been diagnosed with ADHD, but is not medicated.

Final our baby (by an hour) and he is so much fun! He appreciates a schedule and a plan. He excels in math and athletics. He works very hard, his dyslexia is severe and he currently reads independently at a 2nd grade level. He sees a reading specialist 3 times a week in addition to working in a small reading breakout group every day during school. He has a love of doing anything that his big brothers are doing and is willing to try anything.

Their Ideal Nanny: Our ideal person would be able to work with multiple personalities and be very organized. We are looking for someone who has a background in education or psychology, who understands how important executive functioning skills are and how to teach these skills. At times we are a loud and chaotic household and we would need someone confident and capable who does not get overwhelmed easily. Someone who has experience working with school age children/teens would be great!

Additional Job Details: We are looking for a family assistant/executive function coach to spend the afternoons helping our children improve their skills, complete daily homework assignments and manage the children's household chores. This is the main position of interest. *Teenage experience is required.

In addition, we would love to have someone who can help drive children to activities, pick up groceries, help with laundry and keeping the house tidy, help complete organizational projects, and change out seasonal decor.
