Austin Nanny Job

Job # 31397
Family Assistant Needed in Austin: (Bee Caves Rd & River Hills Rd)

Nanny

Message from Family: We are a family of four with two parents and two children. We currently have an au pair. Our au pair will be leaving for her travel month at the end of May, and we will not have another au pair in place until the end of August. We have a house cleaner who comes every 2 weeks. We also have a friendly German Shepherd. We would like our family assistant to be comfortable around dogs, as our dog is part of our home environment.

Dad works from home part of the week and travels frequently for work, while Mom homeschools the children. During the gap in au pair coverage, the role will include more time supporting the children with their daily routines, assisting with homeschool-related activities, engaging in play, and helping with transportation to activities. The home can be emotionally dynamic at times, so a calm, patient, and regulation-focused approach is essential!

About the Children:
Our oldest is an 11-year-old boy who is neurodivergent, with Level 1 autism, ADHD, and anxiety. He enjoys reading, spending time outdoors, and engaging in educational or new activities. He is very social, prefers being around others, and especially enjoys playing games.

Our youngest is an 8-year-old girl who is neurodivergent, with ADHD and a PDA profile. She loves crafts, stuffed animals, and is very emotionally perceptive. She is currently in the process of finding the right balance with her medication, so she may experience occasional emotional outbursts.

Their Ideal Family Assistant: The family is looking for someone who is collaborative, flexible, and proactive, with a strong ability to work alongside other adults in the home. This role will involve partnering closely with Mom and the au pair to keep the household running smoothly. While the overall weekly flow is consistent, day-to-day tasks may shift, so someone who can go with the flow and anticipate needs is important. This is a fast-paced, high-energy household where both parents and children are home frequently. The ideal candidate should be comfortable staying active throughout the day and jumping between tasks as needed.

The ideal candidate is energetic and able to stay actively engaged with the children, both physically and mentally. Experience working with neurodivergent children is highly valued, including an understanding of sensory needs, emotional regulation, and supporting children through moments of overwhelm. A calm, steady presence who prioritizes connection and regulation over strict structure will be key to success in this role.

Additional Job Details: This role will primarily focus on family assistant duties (about 75%), with approximately 25% dedicated to childcare.

Responsibilities will include general household support such as laundry, dishes, tidying, meal prep, organizing, grocery shopping, errands, and occasional help with packing for trips. While the family has a house cleaner, maintaining day-to-day organization is an important part of the role. Due to the home's layout (multiple floors), the position does require someone comfortable being physically active throughout the day (e.g., moving laundry between floors, tidying, etc.).

The family is currently finishing up a remodel, so there may be some short-term tasks such as light dusting, organizing, and resetting spaces as needed. This is expected to wrap up soon.

During the gap in au pair coverage, there will be additional support needed with the children, including helping with homeschool-related activities such as reading, games, simple academic support, and creative projects. The children also have a busy activity schedule, and driving may be required as needed.

Childcare responsibilities will include supporting daily routines, assisting with homeschool-related activities, engaging the children in both active and creative play, preparing simple meals and snacks, and helping with transportation to activities as needed. The ideal candidate will be calm, patient, and comfortable supporting emotional regulation, while also being energetic and able to stay actively engaged throughout the day.
