Job #91680: House Manager Needed in Chandler (30 hours/week) - (Basha & Ocotillo)
Message from Mom:
We are a family of two professionals with two gorgeous teen girls who are busy with school. Mother is a Professor at ASU and loves having a clean beautiful home for her kids and the family. Dad is a research scientist who works for Honeywell (a large employer in the valley) and is a calm, kind person who works from home. Both parents work from home currently but their jobs are intense and they want someone as a house manager/parent assistant who can help them manage the chores associated with having two tween/teen kids. We need a kind, energetic, and enthusiastic person who can help the family with (1) chores related to the kids (their laundry, light lunches for them, setting up evening snack, school transportation as needed) and (2) some light chores for the family (sweep and mop kitchen+family room, towels and foot rugs laundry, grocery shopping, dishwashing, errands to stores and dry cleaning). We are looking for someone who loves being efficient, organized, helping keep things organized (we are very organized), and is willing to work professionally with the family on these chores. Our ideal assistant has her own transportation, is kind, honest, sincere, works hard, attentive to details, punctual, a non-smoker, and will wear a mask :). Our philosophy is to treat all our supports with respect.
About the Children:
Our eldest daughter is a wonderful, bright, loving, and kind 15 year old female and is a freshman at Hamilton High School in Chandler. She is gifted and loves academics. She goes to school in person, loves science fairs, writing poetry, speech and debate. She is a happy teen, very studious and hardworking, and school-focused, often dreaming like most teens do, very polite and kind to others. She loves singing and painting during her free time.
Our youngest daughter turns 11 in 2 months. She is very high-functioning on the autism spectrum. She is gifted musically and loves singing and playing the piano. She is generally very funny and loves creating her own imaginary world. Her challenge is reading social cues which can frustrate her at times. What helps in those times is to be patient and kind and non-confrontational. If shown patience, she is generally kind and eager to include the participant in her imaginary world. She needs someone mature and calm and loving and patient as a provider.
Their Ideal Nanny:
The ideal nanny is eager to be a parent's assistant, happy to clean and prepare simply light meals, and brings a lot of smiles to her face.
Additional Job Details:
Cooking: largely for kids, simple light meals such as mac-n-cheese, grilled cheese, quesadilla, burritos.
Laundry: folding laundry for mom or dad (no need to do our laundry)
Kids laundry: this is key and each kid needs her laundry done 1x a week -- hung dry outside in the backyard (safe and clean and green and beautiful and we have clotheslines), folded and put away.
Kids rooms: beds made daily, weekly organization of dressers to keep things tidy (we have a cleaning lady who takes care of weekly dusting, laundry of sheets, etc.), putting away laundry, removing old clothes to pack up to give away or save for our younger child.
Errands: once a week grocery shopping to Whole Foods; occasional trips to Sprouts, Target, dry cleaners (maybe 1-2 times).
House chores:
1) sweeping and mopping the kitchen, family room, and entryway to that space every day
2) unloading dishwasher in the morning
3) reloading dishwasher during the work time until she runs it before leaving
4) keeping kitchen counters and dining table clean
5) washing, drying, folding, and putting away kids laundry
6) washing and folding and putting away towels from all bathrooms 1x a week
7) washing and folding and putting away kitchen hand towels 1x a week
8) making one dish for the kids every day for their next day lunch
Driving for kids: Pick up little one from school daily at 3 pm and drive her back home safely. We want a safe driver who drives carefully and defensively and not aggressively.
Mask: mandatory to wear a mask while working at home, while picking up kid, while running errands.
We also want a house manager who is covid-safe and careful. We are very careful and want to be respectful of others' health and safety and want a house manager who thinks the same way.
We are vegetarian and do not eat meat (except eggs) at home. We are happy to provide lunch -- we eat very healthy food -- lots of grains, lentils, veggies, and our manager can eat what the family eats with them.
** Drug Screening Required for this Position
Start Date: ASAP
Expected Job Duration: Up to a year
COVID-19 Precautions:
We have been largely in a bubble without much interaction and socialization with friends and family. For example, some family lives in San Diego and we are very close as families. Yet, we haven't seen some family for over a year. We take all precautions. Our older child has to go in person to school due to lack of any other options but she wears the equivalent of three masks (KN95+good quality cloth mask + filter), leaves her school bags in the garage, changes in the laundry room immediately upon entering and showers right away. We will follow the same protocol with kid #2 when she returns to school at the end of March.
We go to grocery stores 1x a week and wear two masks + filter (as described above). We do not otherwise go out much except to bike, run, and do outdoor activities such as hiking.
What precautions would you expect of your nanny during the COVID-19 outbreak?
Similar to ours. Careful, wise, and respectful. We want our nanny to WEAR A MASK AT HOME while working and when we are around her. We will too.
We respect science, mask mandates, social distancing, and want someone who does the same. We want someone who understands that these rules are in place for a reason -- to provide safety to all. Our prior experiences have made us aware that we all need to wear a mask for a while and nannies, even when most careful, can get exposed outside (just like we could). We want someone who practices care and will be willing to wear a mask while working in our house while going to the grocery store, and while picking up kids from school :).
By the time the nanny starts, both adult members of this family (parents) will be vaccinated with both first and second doses. But we will still be careful with others, our kids, and ourselves. We want a nanny that understands our commitment to care.
Has the family received or will receive the COVID-19 vaccine? Yes
Is the nanny required to receive the COVID-19 vaccine? Yes
Duties: Light housekeeping, laundry, grocery shopping, misc errands, and cooking

If she does return in person, the hours we need are Mon --- Fri: 10:30--4:30 pm For summer (starting end of May): hours needed are 10--4 p.
