Job # 47100: Live-in OR Live-out Part-Time Nanny Needed in Evergreen, CO (Bear Creek Rd and Myers Gulch Rd)

Message from Family:
I am a single mom working from home in Evergreen, Colorado, and have hosted au pairs from Germany for the last 13 years. We have loved having live-in au pairs from Germany, and that program has been very successful for us. My parenting style is low-key, positive, and flexible. As noted below, my kids have some special needs, but please do not be intimidated by them.

My previous caregivers will all tell you that my kids are sweet and fun and, frankly, not more difficult to care for than kids without special needs. I don't require specific special needs experience but rather an interest in and openness to working with kids with special needs. I am happy to train and be available for any questions/issues that arise, and this is made easier by the fact that I work from home. During a typical workday, I'm upstairs in my office on my computer and on calls, and my caregiver is downstairs with the kids. If an issue or question arises, my caregiver can always reach out to me, and I can assist. I will check in a few times, but I don't hover. I'm happy to let the caregiver run the show when they're in charge. :) I'm a great communicator and don't get rattled easily. I'm good to work for and with and have developed lasting relationships with all of my previous caregivers. In fact, each of my 13 au pairs stayed with our family for their full one-year commitment, and we have had 3 reunions in Germany where we reunited with all of them (2013, 2016, and 2019). Put simply, we care about our caregivers, and we would love to find a caregiver who values that strong and loving relationship.

About the Child:
My oldest son is a sweet and loving 16-year-old boy who loves his dog. He has Type 1 diabetes which we manage with an insulin pump. (I will train on this! No experience is needed, just a willingness to learn the skills, which are easy once you understand them.) He also has high-functioning autism, but this is not much of a factor in his care needs. He is very intelligent and performs well in school. He is pretty independent and just needs a little help and direction. My son is a delightful kid who has formed very strong relationships with his previous caregivers.

My youngest son is a happy and silly 14-year-old boy who loves Buzz Lightyear. He has cerebral palsy, which in his case, is a mild physical disability. He gets around at home quite well on his own but does not yet walk on his own, so has a wheelchair for use in the community. His care needs are a little different than a typical 14-year-old (similar to the care needs of a younger child) but not difficult to learn. He is cute and fun, and all of his caregivers have loved him.

Their Ideal Nanny:
I am looking for an open-minded and flexible nanny who values good communication and working through any potential issues together. My kids have some special needs, so this would be a great position for someone who is oriented toward working in special education or in the special needs world (SLP, OT, PT, etc.). Several of my previous caregivers have gone on to work in special education and related fields, and this has been a perfect role for building that experience. My kids present some diverse special needs issues, but at the same time, they are sweet and fun kids, so all in all, a wonderful resume builder for the right candidate. As noted above, I don't require any particular background in special needs and will train any caregiver regarding my kids' needs.
