Message from Grandmother: My grandchildren and their parents live in North Boulder with their two Siberian cats. Dad works locally. Mom is battling terminal cancer and visiting the Cancer Center and/or hospital daily. My role has increased during the years with mom battling cancer. Dad drives the kids to school, Grandmother picks them up, and is in charge of after-school activities for them. Her home is where vacation days and sick days are spent. Both children have attended day camp each summer.
About the Child:
My granddaughter is 12 years old. She is a very creative young person in 7th grade at middle school. She has Asperger's and has skipped a grade. She is in regular classes in school and relishes new experiences and art-oriented activities. A very curious mind is one of her hallmark's; she can love quiet time after school or doing non-school days to settle her mind and find peace.
My grandson is ten years old. He is a bright, energetic 5th grader who has much passion for math, chess, and basketball. He is in advanced math (6th grade) and loves the interplay of chess and math thinking skills in his life. He relished board games, playing and watching sports, and has a sensitive, caring personality.
Their Ideal Nanny: A caring, sensitive person with a sense of humor. Someone willing to learn, explain and adjust to life's constantly changing happenings and be ready to help the kids. As I am of grandmother age, the thought of a nanny with computer literacy makes me smile. We would love a nanny who is adaptable, understanding, and flexible. We would love a nanny who has open communication and can be expressive with feedback on suggestions and comments concerning the children or other matters involving the job. They hope to find a nanny ready to grow to be a part of their family.
Additional Job Details: Driving is required. School pickup will be rotated with the grandmother. Activities could make for later pick up or driving to after-school activities. General supervision of shower/bath and homework time. Possible board games, watching, or participating in patio basketball, clay, painting and clay work, cake decorating, chess if one new how can be usual activities. Often, Grandmother is there but may have an appointment, errand, or need to take either grandchild somewhere.
