Message from Mom: I am looking for an after-school nanny who loves to spend time with my kiddos! The boys need to be picked up from school every day, which is just down the street from our house. I need help with kid playtime (outside, Legos, crafts, etc.) and routines, (i.e. unloading backpacks, getting snacks, starting homework). The boys are primarily with me (Mom), but they do spend every other weekend and occasional weeknights with their Dad. This position would be 100% at Mom's house. I am in marketing and have a fairly, high-stress job. I work out of my office (in Plano, 15 min away) two days per week, and work at home during the rest of the week. Occasionally, I have to be out of town on business trips. While this is not mandatory, if there is the time and flexibility for the nanny to stay longer during those times, that is appreciated. We have had nannies in some capacity since 2015. We are welcoming and used to someone else in our home, and the boys have always loved spending time with their nannies. While the specific hours for my children are 2:30 pm - 5:30 pm, I am also looking for support with things at the house, such as kid laundry, organization, cleaning, grocery shopping, and meal prep. My anticipation is that this would be done prior to school pickup each day. Also, I would be very interested if extra time is available when the kids are off from school. Again, that is not mandatory, but a bonus. I typically try to work with nannies for long periods of time, so with the right fit, I'd be happy to have someone long-term. We live in a neighborhood with LOTS of children and have a fun, close-knit group of friends at our school. It seems that there are always kids to play with which is great for the kids. I do require that my nanny have a reliable car. I will provide car seats, and reimburse any mileage used to transport the boys.
About the Children:
First child is a smart, creative, sensitive and sweet little guy. He takes a bit to warm up, but once he knows someone, he's fiercely loyal. He LOVES free play. He enjoys making up his own games, building legos, playing outside, and connecting with friends. Most afternoons after school are spent with a mix of playing and downtime. He is in third grade this year. For the most part, he enjoys school and does well. He loves to read, and while he sometimes complains about math, always succeeds.
Second child is a little ham! He is so funny, and thrives on making people laugh and having fun. Like his brother, he is sweet, sensitive and creative. However, he and his brother also have many differences as well! He started kindergarten this year and is doing well. The transition to full-time school was a little difficult, but he seems to be thriving, enjoying his teacher, friends, the routine, and talking about everything he learned each day. He loves arts and crafts, riding his bike, jumping on the trampoline, and playing with Legos.
Their Ideal Nanny: My ideal nanny is fun, active, creative, and truly loves being around kids. I'm searching for someone who enjoys the time with the boys. They are very loving, and it's hard not to fall for them.
I would like someone who is punctual, organized, and communicates well. I am very understanding of vacations, time off, sick days, etc., but communication is key. I often email about upcoming days/weeks/holidays, just to be sure we're all on the same page and the schedule is clear.
I also appreciate someone with experience, and who has references. I am not opposed to someone who is newer to nannying, but I do appreciate some experience.
Additional Job Details: I like my kids to PLAY! I try to keep a fun house with crafts, toys, etc. I'm not scared of fort building or other things ... It's nice when everything is picked up at the end of the day, but I prefer an environment where the kids feel like they can be kids, not a sterile home. I'm all about playing in the house or getting dirty outside. They're kids!
I also very much appreciate support with grocery shopping, organization, kid laundry, etc. It goes a long way in keeping everything running smoothly.
