Job # 52733: Reliable & Loving Nanny Needed in Erie (Hwy 287 & Arapahoe Rd)

Agency Point of Contact for Job # 52733: Gina (720) 464 0678

Message from Family: Our family lives in North Boulder, with our two cats. Dad works locally at a law firm, which requires long hours per week. Mom is a Child Clinical Psychologist who tragically is battling terminal cancer. Her treatment is intensive and difficult, requiring daily infusions & appointments at the Cancer center and/or hospital. Grandmas role has increased greatly during the years that Mom has battled cancer. We are in great need of an incredible Nanny who can care for our kids when we're not able to, and most importantly, give them the love and stability they need during this difficult time in their lives watching their Mommy fight through Cancer, as well as their Grandma who is having more trouble caring for them alone due to a heart condition.

About the Children: Our oldest child is 13 years old. She is a creative kiddo in the 8th grade. She has high-functioning Asperger's, has skipped a grade, is active in the gifted/talented program at school, and relishes new experiences and any type of arts or crafts-oriented activities. A very curious mind is one of her hallmarks. She loves learning new things, adventures and exploring. Although an extrovert with several friends she's fiercely loyal to, she also needs quiet time after school or on non-school days to settle her mind and find peace. She is especially close to her Mom, who is battling cancer, which is very difficult for both kids to deal with at their young age.

Our youngest is a bright, sweet & energetic 11 year old who has passion for Math, Chess, Ninja Warrior, Pokemon and Basketball. He is in advanced math at school (a few grades ahead) and loves the interplay of chess and math thinking skills in his life. You never need to remind him to do homework or school projects; he's just a dedicated, determined, hard-working & self-motivated little guy. He loves diving into sports of any kind and plays on a competitive basketball team. He likes playing the Pokemon card game & board games, and has a sensitive, caring personality.

Their Ideal Nanny: All Nanny jobs are so important, as you are helping raise a child! But this position particularly calls for a Nanny with a lot of heart, caring and sensitivity given Mom & Grandma's health situations. We'd love to find someone who loves to have FUN and a good sense of humor.

It's important to us that the Nanny feel comfortable, like a true family member, and want to stay with us for many years, as the kids desperately need that stability given it's uncertain how long Mom will be around. The kids had one Nanny from when they were born until a year ago- so for 10+ years! We adored her, she came to all our outside-work family events (and still does!), and truly became part of our family. We treated her with the respect and honor that is due someone who is helping raise our kids and being a part of the family. Unfortunately, that Nanny had to leave which was a big loss to our family. We hope we can find someone who once again is ready to make a long-term commitment to give the kids that stability and dependable care.

Reliability and a safe driver/car is an absolute must, and we'd love to have a tech-savvy Nanny as the kids get older and are beginning to need to be more connected to devices for schoolwork. It would be wonderful if the Nanny were adaptable and willing to join in whatever activities the kids are doing (games, arts, etc). In an ideal world, the Nanny would be as comfortable doing arts/crafts with our daughter as throwing the ball around with our son. But just the willingness to watch or cheer on the kiddo in their activity is ok too! We take our Nanny's opinions and feedback seriously, and you would always find we have your back and are ready to learn and grow together with you to do the best possible job working as a team raising these kiddos.

Additional Job Details: Dad drives the kids to school, Grandma picks them up from school and is in charge of after school activities & dinner for the kids during the school week. The kids spend vacation and sick days at Grandmas home in Erie. After dinner, Dad drives the kids back home from Grandmas's house in Erie to where Dad, Mom and the kids live in Boulder. You would be helping Nana with the kids after school at her home in East Boulder/West Erie (287 & Arapahoe Rd junction), which backs up to Open Space with walking trails, a large yard & community pool. The nanny would have use of a garage parking spot with its remote. Because the kids are at different schools with different pick up times, the nanny and Grandma would rotate which school/kiddo they picked up on a given day, and then return to Grandma's home. Then nanny would be in charge of making sure the kids shower/bathe and get any homework done. Then it's time to have fun! Possibilities include things like board games, watching or participating in outdoor basketball, bike riding, clay, painting, clay work, cake decorating, chess, Pokemon games, etc. Oftentimes, Grandma is present in the house doing other work, but may have an appointment, errand or need to take one of the kid's to after-school activities while you stay with the other child at home. During school vacations, our youngest likely will spend most of his days at sports camps, but our oldest would love to go do things with the nanny like go to museums, movies, events, the mall, go to the pool, Pearl Street, go get ice cream, or any fun adventure (which of course we would pay for completely).
