Job # 42730: Summer-Time Nanny Needed in Englewood, CO (E Orchard Rd & S Havana St)

Agency Point of Contact for Job # 42730: Kara 480-579-3909

Message from Family: We are a family of 5 and have been in Colorado since 2014. After spending 10 years in the Boston area after college we returned to open our own business and raise our family here. When we moved back our oldest, was 1 year old and since we have had our daughter and second son. Dad is a professional chef and I manage the business admin. We love food and wine and have brought our kids up with a lot of hands on experience cooking with us in our home kitchen. We are very comfortable with our kids helping with meal prep, using knives and cooking on the gas range. We enjoy skiing as a family and had all 5 of us out on the mountains this year. All three kiddos play soccer, love music and enjoy playing at home both inside and out. We live in a very family friendly neighborhood with their elementary school within walking distance, a great neighborhood pool that is open all summer and lots of other families with kids within biking or walking distance. Given that we own our own business our work hours can vary and are flexible.

About the Child:
Our oldest child is our son, who is 10 years old. He loves to play soccer. He has been diagnosed with anxiety and mild dyslexia as of the fall of 2022 which can cause him to avoid new situations, and large gatherings and he struggles with spontaneous changes in plans. He is very much a homebody and we have seen him be very challenging when it comes to getting out of the house.

Our middle child is our daughter, who is 7 years old. She enjoys swimming at our neighborhood pool and playing with her friends. She is an animal lover and smothers our 2 cats and dog with lots of love. She also loves horses and will be doing a week of horseback riding camp this summer.

Our youngest son is 6 years old. He is a fun-loving and easy-going third child. He also can be very loud, screaming or hitting if he gets angry or feels he is not being heard. He is finishing out pre-school and will be starting Kindergarten in the fall. He loves to play with his big brother and they play trains or Legos often. He is interested in Minecraft.

Their Ideal Nanny: The ideal candidate is someone who has experience working with older children, especially someone with experience working with kids with special needs. We would also like someone who has the ability to be firm but consistent and fair with their approach and plan for activities. We have seen in the past with previous nannies who try to be too accommodating our kids will take advantage of that and it can lead to major challenges. We are looking for someone who is comfortable in the kitchen and ensuring that meals are nutritious and snacks do not get in the way of eating a full meal. We would like someone who is capable of defusing situations without constantly texting one of us for support. We appreciate open communication. We would love to find someone who could be a part of our family not just for this summer but for future summers to come and babysitting needs throughout the school year. Transitioning caregivers is very difficult for our kids so we like to build lasting relationships.

Additional Job Details:
The majority of the time the coverage will be for our daughter and oldest son. As the youngest will still be going to his pre-school at least through June. We do have a 2-week family vacation planned from 7/1 to 7/15 and would be open to providing a daily rate for house/pet sitting while we are away. We will need someone who has a clean driving record and their own vehicle that can accommodate all three kiddos for pick up from pre-school and driving kids to activities. This position would need to prepare and provide lunch to the kids on a daily basis and may be asked to help with some prep for dinner on occasion.
