Nanny

Message from Family: We are a Christian, holistically minded family focused on raising our children to be well-rounded spiritually, mentally, and physically. Health is a priority for us through exercise, mental and physical support (through whole foods, chiropractic care, myofascial work), prioritizing time outside, and spiritual support.

Mom and Dad both work full-time from home. We have designated workspaces that can be closed off. Dad overall works from home unless he has to travel out of state. He works mostly normal hours, but could work off-hours, which leads to breaks during the day to assist the nanny or give a break. Mom works primarily from home but may have days in the office in Tempe. Overall, Mom works normal hours, but depending on the season. She may have breaks during the day or need to be fully focused with no interruptions.

Our family enjoys hiking and prioritizes outdoor activities during the nicer months, so we'd love a nanny who also values outdoor time. We have a pool and are currently working with our pool company on safety measures, including fencing/covers and door alarms, as the boys become more mobile. We'd like someone comfortable assisting with taking the boys to ISR swim lessons. There are also four parks within walking distance and a library across the street. Initially, driving will be minimal, but in the future, we'd love someone open to outings such as the zoo, play places, music classes, and other activities as everyone builds comfort together.

About the Children: Our twins are now 12 weeks old.

We are still learning our first son's personality, but overall, he is a very easy baby. We call him our gentle giant. He hates being cold, and that's the only time he really gets fussy at this stage. He does coo and is very smiley, but not as vocal as his brother. He does love the bouncer and is pretty content to sit in it, bouncing. He also likes the kick-and-play piano, and he will take a pacifier at times (sometimes ahead of a nap, we do the bait-and-switch by nursing him and then letting him relax before putting the pacifier in to help him fall asleep while I get his brother down too). He is extremely snuggly when being held. He did have bad torticollis, so we're prioritizing frequent head turns to both sides, lots of tummy time, and seeking outside support.

Our second son is a little bit more “spicy,” as he is very vocal (squeals, coos, baby noises) and can get fussy for no reason other than wanting to be held or positioned upright. He likes to “see the world.” He already has a snuggly (his cow) that he likes and will squish into his face. He likes bouncing as well in his bouncer with his stuffed cow and a pacifier. He's our small but mighty and stubborn boy. If he doesn't want to eat, he won't… it will be screaming, pushing away, turning away, and even putting his hands up. We don't force him to eat, as he's still gaining weight. He also had some torticollis that we are prioritizing by ensuring he gets movement on both sides. We are also in physical therapy to avoid a helmet down the road.

The boys are currently fed through a combination of nursing, breastmilk bottles, and formula bottles, with nursing prioritized whenever possible and breastmilk bottles used primarily throughout the day. Nursing may be incorporated into the daily routine when it works smoothly with the schedule; otherwise, breastmilk will be pumped and provided in bottles. We plan to follow a baby-led weaning approach, so the nanny should be comfortable supporting that and preparing meals if needed. We do not plan to introduce rice cereal. We have also started elimination communication and hope to work toward potty training before age two, so we would love someone who is open to supporting that journey as we learn and navigate it.

Their Ideal Nanny: We are a Christian, holistic family looking for a nanny who is comfortable and confident caring for twins/multiples of similar ages. We hope to find someone active, nurturing, and fully engaged with the boys, helping support their developmental milestones through play, learning, baby-led weaning, and eventually potty training.

Our ideal candidate values minimal screen time and limited phone use while the children are awake, and will help reinforce the importance of family, faith, kindness, and strong traditional values in a positive and supportive environment. We are also looking for someone who is a non-smoker/non-vaper.

Responsibilities will primarily focus on the children and include baby-related tasks such as baby laundry, bottle washing, toy organization, and rotating clothing sizes as the boys grow.

We would love to find someone interested in building a long-term relationship with our family and who is open to traveling with us domestically and internationally as our family continues to grow.

Overall, we are hoping to find an active, engaging nanny who enjoys playing with the children, encouraging development, and keeping them involved throughout the day!

Pets: The family also has three dogs, so they are looking for someone who is comfortable around pets. There is no formal pet care required, aside from occasionally letting the dogs outside when needed. The dogs primarily stay near mom and dad while they are working, and the only household boundary is that they are kept out of the boys' room during nap time.

Their oldest dog is an independent but playful terrier mix who enjoys the babies but appreciates having his own space. Their middle dog, a lovable and sassy Yorkie mix, adores the babies and likes to check on them often. The family is currently working with a trainer on additional commands with her. Their youngest, a Yorkipoo, is very affectionate and happiest lounging near the family or the babies. Two of the dogs also enjoy playful wrestling matches that can sound intense but are simply part of how they play together.

Travel: Travel would be a plus, but is not required for this position. The family may occasionally ask the nanny to travel in the future for trips back to the Midwest or family vacations if the nanny is available.

The family will offer gas mileage reimbursement or use of a car when that time comes.
