Mature and Proactive Family Assistant Needed For An Active Household In Lanikai, HI

Message from Family: With three active boys in 8th, 5th, and 2nd grade, our family is looking for a family assistant to help manage the flow of daily life. Dad frequently travels to the mainland, and Mom needs support getting the kids to and from their many activities. Our boys have busy school schedules, active social lives, and are involved in multiple sports, so driving will be a major part of the role. 

We also run a local business, which adds to the pace and complexity of our household, and we're looking for someone who can help with organization and logistics to keep everything running smoothly. Light household care, including basic cleaning, tidying, and helping maintain order around the home, will also be an important part of this job.

About the Children: Our oldest is a social, outgoing 13-year-old boy who loves soccer, movies, TV, and spending time with his friends. Now entering his teen years, he's showing a bit of typical teenage moodiness, but nothing concerning. He's loving and kind, with a big heart for animals. He enjoys watching professional sports. He loves being in the water, and he's growing more interested in music, clothes, and video games as he gets older.

Our second child is a funny, outgoing 10-year-old with a big imagination and an even bigger heart. He loves performing, dancing, music, comedy, and anything that lets him make people laugh, and he's happiest when he's creating stories or using his imagination. Sensitive and deeply feeling, he responds strongly to the world around him. He has ADHD, which is well-managed with medication, allowing him to keep up in school without difficulty. He enjoys flag football, swimming, basketball, bike riding, building things with his hands, and dressing in his own unique style. Energetic, expressive, and creative, he brings joy and originality wherever he goes.

Our youngest is a sensitive, sweet, and highly intelligent 7-year-old who has kept pace with his older brothers from the very beginning. He's an excellent soccer player and loves the game, along with watching TV and movies and being genuinely helpful around the house. He's our biggest helper, always eager to take on cooking or cleaning tasks, or even start a lemonade stand. He loves being read to and cuddling with his parents, and he enjoys going to the beach, swimming, and exploring the world with curiosity and enthusiasm. He's becoming a stronger reader and takes great joy in inventing, building, drawing, making forts, and anything involving Legos. Inquisitive, articulate, and observant, he remembers everything he sees and approaches the world with a thoughtful, sensitive spirit.

Their Ideal Family Assistant: The family is looking for a Family Assistant who is truly an asset… someone who brings ease, not added stress. They are looking for a mature, calm, reliable, and steady presence who does not require managing. This person should be proactive, able to anticipate needs without prompting, check in regularly, and stay appropriately engaged while also knowing when to step back.

A friendly demeanor is important, along with the ability to meet children at their level and balance the varying needs of their 13-, 10-, and 7-year-olds. Flexibility is essential, as the family's schedule is often busy and unpredictable. The ideal candidate is also comfortable with household pets (a dog and a cat) and willing to help with their care if needed.

Additional Job Details: The family requires someone with a safe, reliable driving history and their own vehicle, as driving will be a significant part of this role. They are a non-religious household, so it's important that their Family Assistant is comfortable in that environment. Additionally, their oldest child has a seafood allergy, so careful attention to food handling and monitoring is essential.

Schedule: The weekly schedule will be confirmed in advance, so flexibility is important. An example of what the schedule will most likely follow is:
Wednesday, Thursday, Friday: 2:00 pm – 7:00 pm
Saturday & Sunday: 10:00 am – 2:00 pm
**This position offers 23 guaranteed hours per week.

Compensation: $25 - $30 per hour DOE
