Message from Mom: We're a very busy household of three. My children's father has passed away, so I manage everything at home while working full-time. My kids attend school or camp during the day. We don't have pets yet, but we're hoping to get a dog. Both of my children have high-functioning autism and need some extra support with clean-up and following directions. They love to play, and anything silly is perfect for them! My older child has chores but does best with tips and clear, step-by-step guidance.
About the Children:
My oldest is an 8-year-old boy who is incredibly smart. He loves to learn and teach others. He's very kind, but also very messy!
My youngest is 3 years old and speech-delayed, but he's full of chatter. He loves to play and give hugs, and he brings so much joy to our home.
Their Ideal Family Assistant: They are looking for either two people or one person open to working a split shift. They should be excellent with children, warm, nurturing, and engaging…while also being highly flexible and adaptable to changing routines and responsibilities. They should be able to “go with the flow” while still maintaining structure and using sound judgment.
Strong common sense and decision-making skills are essential, along with the ability to take initiative without needing constant direction. The right person will be quick, efficient, responsive, and always thinking one step ahead. They should feel comfortable juggling a variety of household and childcare tasks, maintain a positive attitude with a team-player mindset, and be reliable, responsible, and consistently dependable. The role is approximately 70% household responsibilities and 30% childcare.
Additional Job Details: We do not have any religious restrictions. My kids are picky eaters, but I prepare their specific meals. The Family Assistant must be comfortable driving an SUV, as I have a 4Runner, and must have a clean driving record. Driving duties will include school drop-offs and pick-ups, and occasionally, weather permitting, outings to the park or similar activities.
On August 19th, I will be having surgery and may require some additional assistance for transportation and general support during my recovery.
