Message from Mom: We consider our nanny part of the family - after all, you'll spend more of our kids' non-school waking hours with them than we will! We've been lucky enough to have amazing nannies who are still a part of our kids' lives. Both of us work full-time for ASU and have demanding jobs. In the past, our nannies have not done much household management tasks, but our kiddos weren't both in school. Now that both kids are in school, our needs have changed. We have a dog, and mom works from home two days a week. We also have a pool in our backyard (it has a gated pool fence). We would ideally love someone who could be a Nanny + Household Manager, and when the kids are at school in the afternoons (until pickup time), do housekeeping, run errands, and potentially light meal prep.
About the Children:
Our eldest is almost 10, and he LOVES adults! He has an almost photographic memory when it comes to language (books, movie quotes, etc.) but has struggled a bit with math. He goes to Mathnasium a few days a week after school to help with his math skills. He's on the autism spectrum but is highly functional - his challenges express primarily in social interaction with peers and sometimes struggling with big emotions (anxiety, fear, etc.). He loves everything to do with the ocean and can recite more facts than I will likely ever know. :) He has celiac disease and is very good at always asking, "does this have gluten in it?" He'll be going into 4th grade.
Our second child is 5 years old. She is fearless, fun, rambunctious, and stubborn. She'll give you a run for your money and then snuggle sweetly with you afterward. She currently attends school every Mon, Tues, Thurs, and Friday until 3 pm, but we've discovered she needs to come home earlier on Wednesdays and take a nap! She'll be in preschool at the Montessori this school year and then go to Kindergarten (and she can't wait to be one of the "big kids").
Their Ideal Nanny: Fun, active, and willing to help keep the kids active, engaged, and away from the TV. Loves dogs! We are looking for a nanny with experience with school-aged children, who can maintain and manage busy schedules and is comfortable and confident with high-functioning beings and celiac (gluten-free) disease.
