Message from Family: We recently relocated to Scottsdale from Illinois and are new to Arizona—although Mom did live in Phoenix many years ago. Mom and Dad both work corporate jobs and will be working from home. We are used to hiding out and staying out of the nanny's way while we are working. We spend a lot of the day on calls, but we do love to join for lunch and say hello when we have breaks. Our family has a small dog (a beagle/rat terrier mix). While no care is required for the dog, the nanny should be comfortable with a friendly pup following them around the house during the day.
About the Child: Our 4.5-year-old daughter is currently in Pre-K 4, but to help ease our transition during the move, we would prefer to have a nanny care for her until she begins kindergarten in early August 2025. Our daughter tends to be a bit shy at first and takes her time warming up to strangers and new kids. However, once she feels comfortable, she becomes bright, talkative, and engaging. She loves art, interactive play, and spending time with small groups of children. She is truly a joy to be around—eager to learn, creative in pretend play, and passionate about arts and crafts. Her teachers describe her as a gentle soul who is highly focused, caring toward other kids, and excellent at following instructions.
Their Ideal Nanny: We are looking for a warm, playful, and hands-on nanny who enjoys working with preschool-age children (experience with this age group is preferred). The ideal candidate should have a strong track record of punctuality, reliability, and timeliness, as these qualities are very important to us. They should be capable of partnering effectively with us as parents and be a strong communicator who fosters trust and collaboration within the family. Our ideal candidate must also be comfortable working early morning shifts and jumping in while we begin our workday.
Since we'll be keeping our daughter at home until the next school year, we're ideally looking for someone with a background in childhood education who can create a structured day for her. This would include learning activities focused on kindergarten readiness, gross motor play, and driving her to activities where she can socialize with other kids.
Additionally, the candidate should be willing to build trust to eventually take our daughter on outings and assist with light housekeeping tasks when our daughter is sleeping (e.g., folding family laundry, loading/unloading the dishwasher, organizing the child's play area and belongings, etc.). Please note that we have a housekeeper, so these responsibilities will not extend into general heavy housekeeping.
Additional Job Details: We are currently in the process of remodeling a home, which is expected to be ready for us to move into by early to mid-April. In the meantime, we plan to secure temporary housing with enough space to work and live comfortably. During the transition period in February and March, some flexibility will be needed as we adapt to these temporary arrangements. We expect to finalize the location of our temporary housing within the next week or two.
